Worldwide Anglican Communion. A body of Christians, represented on every inhabited continent and by almost every ethnic group, who share a common belief and practice that originated from the Church of England.

University of the South. The leading higher-education institution of The Episcopal Church, located in beautiful Sewanee, Tennessee.

Washington National Cathedral. A national house of prayer for all people, located in Washington, D.C.

Personal Prayer and Devotionals

The Daily Office. An online version of the daily devotion for individuals and families found on pp. 136-140 of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. The Web site also includes Compline and Morning, Noonday, and Evening Prayer. These liturgies are available also in Spanish.

Oremus. An internet ministry that provides a daily prayer service, or Daily Office, for use by individuals, families, or small groups. This type of service, which dates back to the early Church, includes psalms, Bible passages, and prayers of thanksgiving and intercession.

Anglican Rosary. Prayers that an individual can use with the Anglican Rosary. A rosary is a string of beads to which prayers are assigned.

The Upper Room. A ministry whose daily devotional includes a passage from Scripture, a prayer of the day, a thought of the day, and a special intercession for the day. Their Web site provides access to the prayer network of Upper Room Ministries and offers spiritual growth resources for children, teens, adults, individuals, groups, and church leaders.

Bible Study

Bible Reading Fellowship. A non-profit, non-denominational ministry that promotes a greater knowledge of God through systematic reading of the Bible. They create, publish, and distribute Bible commentaries and related materials.

Blue Letter Bible. An interactive Bible reference library, which is based on the King James Version, that includes cross references between verses, Greek and Hebrew texts, a search engine, and other Bible study tools.

Bible Gateway. A searchable Bible that is available in several languages and in several versions: New International, New International (UK), King James, New King James, American Standard, New American Standard, English Standard, and Contemporary English.

World Wide Study Bible. A database of World Wide Web links which are organized by Scripture reference.

Bible Studies on the Web. A resource for academic Bible study that includes links to online academic journals and other Biblical theology materials on the World Wide Web, links to libraries, and links to information about Bible software.

The Johannine Literature Web. Resources for the academic study of the Gospel of John and the Epistles of John.

Anglican Prayer Books

Book of Common Prayer. A collection of prayer books in electronic form that you can download. It includes all U.S. versions and current and historical versions from England, Wales, Scotland, Canada, and Melanesia. Translations in Latin and other languages are available for some versions. The Web site also presents historical notes and sells printed copies of prayer books.

Anglican Liturgical Library. A compilation of links to current and historical prayer book materials. Congregations wanting to compose a worship guide may want to consider the practical suggestions for typesetting liturgical material. Another interesting item is the "Order of Service for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II" (1953).

Missal Propers. Propers from The People's Anglican Missal in the American Edition. A proper is a reading from Scripture and a corresponding prayer that is appointed for Holy Eucharist on a particular day in the Church calendar.

Anglican Breviary. A book of daily offices (prayer services) for morning, noon, evening, and other times of the day. The services consist of appointed prayers, hymns, psalms, and readings for the day. This Web site tells how the Anglican Breviary was developed and how you can order your own elegantly bound copy.

Church Music

Cyber Hymnal. A collection of over 4,100 Christian hymns and Gospel songs from many denominations that includes lyrics, tunes, MIDI files, pictures, biographies, and historical notes. When you select a hymn, a piano rendition of it will play on your computer.

Anglican Online Hymnal. An indexed, searchable collection of public-domain hymn texts with references by hymn numbers to the Anglican hymnals in which they appear. The collection is supplemented by MIDI files which allow you to listen to hymn tunes online.

Songful Psalms. Musical psalm settings with melodic refrains typeset in PDF files that can be downloaded. The psalm texts are taken from the 1979 Book of Common Prayer and the refrain texts are taken from the Gradual Psalter.

The Hymnal 1916. The predecessor of The Hymnal 1940, which is the predecessor of The Hymnal 1982. The Web site includes MIDI files of tunes from this hymnal.

Gregorian Chant Home Page. A Web site devoted mainly to advanced research on Gregorian chant. However, it has a page which explains the development of chant for anyone who is interested in the music or the history of the early Church.

The American Organist. The official journal of the American Guild of Organists, the Royal Canadian College of Organists, and the Associated Pipe Organ Builders of America. Only a print edition of this monthly publication is available, but subscription information is given on their Web site.

Organ Clearing House. An organization that finds new homes for pipe organs that are no longer in use.

Jesus Video Project of America. A ministry of the Campus Crusade for Christ that aims to widely distribute a video about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Unlike the Hollywood or television dramatizations of Jesus which aim to entertain viewers, this video, which is based on the Gospel of Luke, aims to transform people by telling them the Good News in a dramatic but edifying way.

Christian Artwork Concordance. A large and diverse collection of electronic images of works of art, indexed by Biblical or liturgical subject.

Free Christian Clipart. A variety of images that are useful for Web sites, newsletters, Christian education materials, and other church documents.
